  3. Nice as always, I like it almost as much as number 1, but I think the low exhaust really makes a big difference.
I'm making progress on my own build thanks to all the info I could get from your blog. You can see the latest state on my own blog (http://domitracker.blogspot.com/). I still need to find the right design for the seat/rear end before doing all the painting.
Also I was hoping you could tell me where you got the tank cap. I also have a CG125 tank and could not find any with hole/tube.
I also want to move the ignition switch to the frame and replace it with a smaller version and was wondering if you think this one could do the job (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CG125-CG-125-IGNITION-SWITCH-/160710837670?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item256b1cc5a6).

Thanks and keep up those great bikes and ideas

  5. Oh and also I have Jon's pipe and it really is too loud. Do you know if any spark arrestor/quiet baffle could fit in it ?

  6. Hi , I'm using a CB100 tank 73 bought it complete with badges.Tried to get a CG but they seem limited to the UK... $100 Au just for postage. In Australia the CB 100 tanks are still around, and look similar.

  8. Hi poirier, i don't have any drawings for the rear section sorry.

The tank cap was from an early honda xl.

I have used the original design and location for the ignition switch for convenience and practiclity, be careful using a switch from a smaller bike as the wiring may be able to handle the high amps when starting the motor.
Great looking bike, good luck with it.

  9. Oh yes the baffle question, i also thought the pipe was too loud and ended up removing a baffle from an xr600 and inserting it with the help of some newly welded nuts inside it was fine and much easier to live with.

  10. Hi joe, yes the cb100 would be fine as it is a very similar shape and design, i had actually bought one for my first bike but was too rotten inside to use so the next tank i found was the cg125 and used that instead.

  13. Hi tosh, the header pipes were original and the rear silencers were from a honda crf 250 mot-x bike.

    1. Hi backtracker
where did you buy your silencers ?

  14. Hi backtracker,As you said, the 98 frame is a little bit different. I have fabricated the under side of my CB100 tank [like you,I bought a rusted out one, but tripped over a brand new, after market one on ebay a week later]and the back still sits 1" above the frame. I have used a spacer to fill the gap, and the higher tank actually looks a bit like a H/D sportster with a peanut tank look.I am liking this.I will post photos a little closer to the end, as it is still in bits.
    Thanks Joe.

  15. Mate I notice the flex of the side cover on #4 where it rides the exhaust. Does this not melt?
    Cheers Joe.

  16. Hi joe, the side covers are not actually touching the silencers as i have heated them with a high output heat gun and formed them around the shape of the silencers, there is also heat resistant tape on the back of the panels just to make sure heat transfer is kept minimal. So far so good! nothing has melted anyway.

Look forward to seeing your bike when its all done.
