The Dakar bike is back!

As soon as I had sold this one I knew I'd made a big mistake so I got hold of the guy who'd bought it and well a long story short bought it back! (Cheers Rich)
So from here on in I am to become a collector of all my own bikes... Yay!

  1. Good decision, I was surprised when it was first up for sale, as I said it ticks all the boxes for me. Enjoy it.

  6. Hi Gary, having sold this one once and regretted it I think I'll be hanging on to it for now.
    Appreciate the interest.
    Many thanks.

    1. Thanks for your reply Andrew, must say I don't blame you. Please let me know if you change your mind! . . .
Ps - I've got an XL600LMF which I'm thinking of doing a restoration/customisation on. Based on the work I see you've done so far I've a million and one questions [I'm prone to exaggerate] I could ask you, do you have an email address I could write to [if you're so inclined], or would you prefer I do it using this forum? . . .
      Regards, Gary.

  10. Hello Andrew,

It's been a couple of years so I thought I'd ask if you'd consider selling the Dakar bike again?

I'm planning to do the classic Dakar Rally in 2022 and this would be prefect!

  11. If I were to have a go myself, would you be willing to provide some paid consultancy when I get stuck please? I think that I live very near you!

Would an XR600R be the best donor?

  12. Sure no problem, i have used the XR650L in the past as it has the suspension of the 600 but with the huge benefit of the electric start, and higher output generator.
These were all grey imports unfortunately, i can import a brand new 2021 XR650l and then build/convert to the Dakar custom spec.
    Cost would be £19k.
If you do go ahead and build your own i'd be happy to help if i can.
    Good luck.
