  11. Hi great job...

Where did you find the tank and the other motorcycle parts?

    Regards,

    Francisco

  12. Hi francisco, tank was from a cg125, sidepanels from a 1975 cr250, seat was custom built from scratch, headlight from baja designs usa.Rest is all original.
    hope this helps.

  18. Hi Love the look of your conversions, you have inspired me to attempt my own ,using your guide to build (hope you dont mind) just wondering how far you went with jetting for the filter and xaust, they use a 148 as standard?? thanks for any advice.

  19. Because of you I have an 88 NX half apart in my garage =) Hey, I was wondering what the Brembo calipers came off of? My 88 has no rear brakes, do you think I could make them fit somehow? Thanks for your creativity. Hopefully I'll build the first in the States!

  20. Hi freelansir,
the brembo brakes were fitted to the later models (97' on)in order to change your rear brake you would need a whole new rear end, whilst its not impossible it would be very expensive. I would recomend sticking with your drum brake...looks more retro anyway!
    Good luck with your build.

  21. hi, thanks for the tip on the gas tank. It does fit now after a bit of hammering on the back.
Was also wondering, what model year is the CB900 cut down seat ?
    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  22. To be honest the cb900 seat idea is a bad one, i now fabricate my own seat/rear section myself from scratch. Its more work but a lot better finish.

  23. Hello, I like your projects, very nice to see custom bikes from NX donors. I have a Honda SLR, and I would like to know if you use the front forks on any of your projects because I am having a hard time finding the right gaters and was thinking maybe you could tell me where did you got yours. I would also like to know what are the size of the tires you used on this projects. Thank you!

  24. wow, I love your bikes so much! I was planing to build a tracker with a Ducati Monster but I just changed my mind. I was looking for one of those tanks but this model seams not to be common in Germany. Or is the CG the same as the CB? Could you send me the dimensions of your tank?
Another question: are those haedlamps E approved?

    thanks for your help,
    Marcus

  25. Hi razvan,
the forks are original units, the only difference in the gaiters are the length, so you need to measure yours at mock-up stage and order accordingly. I get mine from ebay at approx £12 a set.
The tyres on the latest bike were both 120/90/17. hope this helps.

  26. Hi marcus,

Don't have the dimensions for the tank sorry, on the last 2 projects i have used brand new tanks from chinese copy cg125's as they are the same but benefit from being brand new of course! You might try searching for these (on ebay) instead of genuine honda units as they are old and rare. The cb tanks are similar but the petrol cap set-up is different an not as nice in my opinion.

The lights i use are from america and are intended for desert racing at night and are not "e" marked, all bikes however have passed their MOT tests.

    Hope this helps.

  27. Love your bikes! I now have my next project!
Only thing is that NX650s are hard to come by. I live in Canada.

Do you think the Honda XR650 would be a good bike to chop up for this project as well?

Would be great to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hi rob, thanks for the compliments, the xr650 if i remember rightly is a water cooled job and as such would sort of spoil the retro theme.
If you could find an xr650L or an xr600r for that matter i think that would most definitely work, but you would have to do more work on the suspension as they are quite a tall bike.
Hope this helps and good luck!

  31. Well, I'm another convert. I was considering buying an NX as a cheap commuter but now I have one as a project bike. I love the Elsinore version, simply stunning.

    Keep up the great work.

  33. Hi Andrew,
Did you have to move the petcock on the CG125 tank aft? If so did you switch to a larger petcock for faster fuel delivery? Thanks for the inspiration!

  34. Hello,
Honda looks awesome. Where I can get exhaust like your?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hello.
I’ve bought an NX650 and am doing a conversion inspired by your excellent bikes.
I have a few (many) questions!
Firstly the carburettor and air filter set up.
I’ve bought a Dynojet and k&n filter as you’ve recommended.
What do I now do with the purge control valve and the canister?
All the amended bikes I have seen on line appear to have removed them.
I’d be very grateful for any help.
    Thanks chris.
